It’s finally summer ! And before discovering new places within the next few months, I decided to do a throwback to last summer, when I travelled from Biarritz, France to Bilbao, Spain.
The places I visited during that trip are Biarritz, St-Jean-de-Luz, Espelette ( known for its pepper), Dax, Sokoa, Bayonne, St-Sebastian, some cute spanish village I don’t remember the name of and Bilbao. All of these towns are located in the Basque region—meaning good food, good views, good atmosphere, and a cute language in which there’s a “x”everywhere (pronounced “ch”).
Crossing the french border was kind of funny because even if there wasn’t any landscape changes at all, everything was, suddenly, written in spanish…Not to mention the people there were much more tanned and had darker hair than us French.
At that time, I was visiting Spain for the first time, and I can say that I was completely mesmerised by the beauty of St Sebastian and Bilbao ( + let’s not forget the deliciousness of the fresh tapas ).
After falling in love with Sebastian, I was a little disappointed by the fact that Bilbao didn’t have a sea—but even without it, visiting was really worth it thanks to its Guggenheim museum; as well as the artsy, modernised, before industrial town and the little bits of Japan on every corner of the city ( perhaps a special exposition?) :
A”Torii”, used in japanese temples usually, in Bilbao…Why?
And… here’s the pictures of my trip 😉
